insurance codes for dental implants?

Please place more in rank in your question. What, specifically, are you looking for?

BTW, Vela – there is an entire section of the ADA code book devoted to implant codes. They certainly DO exist.

Most dental insurance companies do not cover Dental Implants, therefore there are no codes.

CPT-4 Codes?

I am having a problem with an insurance claim. I got 3 teeth knocked out playing soccer and had to get three root canals on them after they were reimplanted. My health insurance said they could cover it because it was an injury, but the dentist that did the root canal keeps submitting dental codes. The insurance company is requestiong CPT-4 codes that specifically indicate that this was injury/accident related (like maybe avulsed tooth, for example). Does anyone know codes to use or a excellent way to find out. I found one website but the only possibilites I found were dental xrays which would only give me $ 40 and “unlisted dentoalveolar procedure” which has a ? for cost. I paid $ 1000 and I’m hoping to get a huge chunk of it back.

OK, well obviously the biller/coder that works at the dentist you go to is not doing their job. You need to call them and clarify that they did not provide enough in rank to the insurance company. I am wondering also what ICD-9 codes/diagnoses codes they used as well. All of these codes can be specified down to the exact reason you had the dental procedure. It seems like the biller/coder is doing a poor job for you. Call them first, say the insurance is requesting more info, have them resubmit it (because it was their fault) Otherwise there is a number you can call for the American Medical Friendship, they have a hotline that can help you look up all sorts of codes. The number is 1-(800) 621-8335 Give that a try. You said the dentist is submitting dental codes, but they aren’t submitting the right ones. Hopefully it works out for you.

I agree with LD2007, the office is being bone idle because they have to find the medical info. Offices that don’t usually deal with medical won’t have that info. Get a detailed copy of your records from the Endo that did the Root Canal (including his hand written notes..get everything, xrays, notes, copies of what they sent to insurance) and find a sympathetic medical office. Question them to look at the stuff from the Endo and see if they can give you a code. It’s a long shot and you may need to pay a couple bucks for a consult. You can submit the basic info yourself to medical if needed on your own medical form, see what happens.

Does anyone know the dental procedure codes for a porcelain crown and porcelain veneer?

I am trying to find out if my insurance will cover porceilain crowns and veneers, but I have to know what the codes are.

A full coverage porcelain crown is code D2740.
A labial veneer- laboratory covers only the outside and cutting edge of the tooth, code D2962

Edited to add: if the veneer or crown are done for purely cosmetic reasons, you insurance likely will not pay at all.

Call a dentist office and question them, they should give it to you over the phone. If they give you a hard time tell them some BS about you are plotting on coming to them to get it done.

What are the best options for dental and vision insurance in Ventura County, CA, ZIP code 930xx?

Already have medical (Anthem PPO). Just asking about dental and vision.

You don’t need vision coverage as it’s not worth it. Dental can be done through Anthem or you could get Ameritas if you want dental insurance. Other than that you can do discount plans. I have links on my site.
